Karl Artur Gnauck handed the profitable bakery to his son, Ernst Artur Gnauck (1905-1955), and his wife Antonie (b. Rokyta) in 1932. Ernst Artur Gnauck ran the bakery until 1955, troubles started after the war. Political and economical reasons permitted only two bakery concessions in Ottendorf-Okrilla. Gnauck was not included. The bakery was closed from February 16th 1946 until November 10th 1949. The master baker Gnauck had to feed his family by working as forest worker, baker in the Logk bakery and in the Steinmetz mill.
